General

What products should I use?

Window films protect only the glass panes. If you wish more wide protection, foils and or paint is needed.

What protection does a certain product offer?

This depends on the product, this spreadsheet will show you the dampened frequencies

What should I consider before installing?

It is recommended that a professional tradesman installs the product.

How do I protect air vents?
You can build a box like structure around the intake or airduct. This box can have a RF blocking mesh that allows airflow, combined with foilprotected or painted frame.

RF Window films

Elasticity of window films.

The films are similar to solar protection films in handling. They are PET based and can not be installed in an angle.

Do the films have glue preinstalled?

Yes

How do the Mil. Spec. films differ from the others??

the Sd  is NATO approved for military use. The SD2500 film is used by several NATO members armed forces.

Does the SD window film contain greenhous gas?

No

AV ScreenMask™ cloaking window film

Does it block all LED (amoled, q-led, etc)?

We haven’t had cause to test against OLED style emissions but it should work the same way as the LED wave.

We will carryout some tests to confirm.

Does installation orientation matter?

Yes, the film blocks either horizontal or vertical light, depending on installment orientation.

The user will either have to install new screens to match the majority orientation or swap around PC screens in other offices to match.

It is why the samplers we can send to you are so important, as the client or surveyor can test to each screen before application of the finished product.

How effective is the blocking agains CRT?

Cathode Ray are so old now that it wasn’t designed to be used on these screens. It absorbs LED light wave.

Are there screens that will not be cloaked?

Yes there are but they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. It depends more upon the emitting device rather han the screen.

There about 5% of screens where it doesn’t work or has a 45 Degree angle, rather than vertical or horizontal.

How do i know wich side of the window goes towards the window?

The upper protective sheet is only in place with a static type adhesion and when removed leaves a ‘dry’ surface to the touch.

This is the outer side.

The other protective layer acts to protect the adhesive system and when removed leaves the sticky adhesive to the touch.

Does it matter if installation is "film toward to screen" (inside) or "from the screen" (outside) ?

It works best when installed to the inside room surface of the glass but we have tried both internal and external and both work well.

Any existing manifestation on the surface the ScreenMask needs to be applied to will need removing prior to application but can be re applied over the top of the film or installed on the revers side of the glass.

Are there other, similar products on the EU market?

The only three we know of are Casper Cloaking Technology and Data Jammer, both are more expensive than ScreenMask and more difficult to install.

 rFoil

Elasticity, does it bend or break?

rFoil is quite elastic due to the polymer core. One can cut the foil but do not tear it.

The foil can be installed in a 90 degree corner, eg where floor and wall meet.

How does one fasten rFoil?

There are several methods depends on material you are fastening it on and how effective you want the shielding to be.

- Gypssum: PVA glue. E.G. Henkelin Solvite all purpose wallpaper adhesive OR... Bostik Hernia PVP Variant.

- Concrete wall: PVA glue. E.G. Henkelin Solvite all purpose wallpaper adhesive. OR... Bostik Hernia PVP Variant.

- Brick wall: TDS tape or similar. OR,  PVA glue. E.G. Henkelin Solvite all purpose wallpaper adhesive. OR... Bostik Hernia PVP Variant

- Wood frame: sapling or with TDS tape.

How do I achieve the best protection?

Use TDS tape or 3M 1170

Interlace foils where protected area is wider than the foil. The interlaced surface should cover at least 150 mm in all directions.

How do I cover the rFoil?

Do not put wall paper directly on rFoil, you can place a gypsum wall on top of it.

Shielding paint

What surfaces can be painted ?

The paint sticks best to surfaces that have been primed with GK5. We do not recommend painting porose brick walls.

Do you ned to mix or stirr the paint before use?

Yes, do this properly. It is best to stir it with AR42 using a battery operated drill.

Does the painted surface need to be grounded??

Yes, the paint is conductive. Employ a professional electrician to do the grounding.

Whatsized area can I Paint with one can?

This depends on how good dampening you need.

Usually you spread (wet) 250 micron paint per layer. Check paint for dampening details.

Can I paint several layers on top of another??

Yes.

Colour?

Black, but can be cover painted when dry. GK5 primer recommended before cover painting.

Migh take 3 - 4 layers of cover paint to achieve wished end result.

Application

In order to meet the requirements of MIL-STD-188-125, two-layer processing is required; the test report from EMCC DR. RASEK refers to a two-layer installation. For professional contractors, our A300-HEMP is a solid basis for a complete shielding concept in accordance with MIL-STD-188-125, in which there are many details to consider: overlaps, doors, windows, cables, ventilation, etc. For all shielding projects that do not require the low-frequency magnetic component, one-layer is completely sufficient, as redundancy is already provided with a single layer.

Processing

Substrate: absorbent and chalky substrates must be pre-treated with our GK5 primer.

Bonding: no cellulose adhesive adheres to aluminum; we recommend our PSA pressure-sensitive adhesive, which creates a self-adhesive surface (very good adhesion with wet and dry installation).

Overlap: the sheets must be glued with a 5 cm overlap. The edges of the sheets must also be sealed with our shielding tape HNX50 / HNX100.

Contact materials: Due to the aluminum layer, a neutral pH value of pH 4-9 must be ensured for all direct contact materials during processing. Grounding This product with an electrically conductive surface has to be integrated into the functionalequipotential bonding (FEB). Please find suitable grounding accessories under "Other products".

HNX100 shielding tape

On large surfaces, shielding materials must be overlapped at the edges. Depending on the adhesive and the nature of the material, a small gap is created through which radiation can penetrate. No measures are necessary for simple shielding up to 60 dB. However, if the very high shielding attenuation of high-end materials such as the A300-HEMP is to be exploited to the maximum, it is necessary to use a shielding tape for web edges.

Result: Smooth shielding tapes made of copper or aluminum allow the radiation to pass through the adhesive layer with almost no reduction. With our HNX100 textile shielding tape, the radiation is greatly impeded by the rough surface as it passes through the adhesive layer. This can massively increase the shielding attenuation at the edges of level crossings.
